Last Call for Installment Pay Agreements!

Property Tax Deadline & Delinquent Notices!

Senior and disabled homeowners making installment payments on their property taxes need to be aware that the third payment is due by Friday, May 31st in order to avoid hefty penalty and interest charges (6% penalty and 1% interest). The fourth and final installment will be due by Wednesday, July 31st so mark your calendars now!

Each October you receive a love letter from the county tax office (in the form of a tax bill) and each

April you may receive one from the county appraisal district (in the form of a notice of appraisal

increase). If your taxes are too high, it is likely because you missed the chance to protest your

value last year or rendered your business personal property too high and it is NOT too late to

change that for 2013!

Volunteer Deputy Registrar Training Resumes January 18

In order to encourage voter registration, a County Voter Registrar appoints Volunteer Deputy Registrars (VDRs).  VDRs must be at least 18 years of age and, in addition to other requirements, complete training established by the Secretary of State.

LMISD Property Owners To Receive Revised 2012 Tax Statement

Nearly 18,000 La Marque Independent School District property owners will receive a revised property tax bill shortly after the New Year with an estimated 5,000 of those entitled to a refund which should arrive by the first week of February.

Pay Half Now – Half Later with Split Pay!

 

Galveston County property owners wishing to pay property taxes half now – half later, have until November

30th to have that first payment postmarked in order to avoid penalty and interest on the second half which is

due by July 1, 2013.

Voter Registration Integrity Upheld!

 

The 5th Circuit stayed the preliminary injunction on voter registration laws that were passed in the

82nd Legislative Session this week which is a victory for the registration process in Texas – at least for

the upcoming elections.

Beginning Monday, July 23rd, those businesses operating under Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission or Galveston County Beer and Wine permitting will be able to obtain services at both the North County Annex (174 Calder Drive in League City) and the Galveston Island branch.
