The Commissioners' Court cannot act on any item not specifically provided for in the Courts' Agenda. The regular Monday meeting is held at the Ray Holbrook County Building, 601 Tremont in the Commissioners' Court meeting room on the first floor. The regular Monday meeting is followed by a Workshop meeting where the Commissioners' Court hears reports on issues from staff, considers requests from governments in Galveston County and hears from organized community groups. The Monday meeting is generally where the Court sits in executive session. Executive sessions are opened and closed within the regular agenda. The meeting starts at 9:00 am, but check the posted agenda for adjustments to the time. On those weeks where the regular meeting is pre-empted by a Monday holiday the Court will move its agenda to Thursday. The Thursday meeting of the Court is held on the third floor of the Galveston County Courthouse, 722 Moody in Galveston, Texas. The Court meets at 9:00 a.m. The Commissioners' Court will meet often during budget season. The Court will meet June through September for the development of the regular annual budget. These special workshop meetings of the Court are usually dedicated to the budget of one or more of the elected officials or administrative divisions of the County. Because of shifting time constraints and schedules these meetings will be posted, but are subject to cancellation. Please contact the Budget Office 409-770-5369 for precise times and places. The Seventy-Fifth Texas Legislature authorized Texas Counties to meet in places other than the County Seat under special circumstances.
